Reflection: Future Church
Excerpts from the reflection by David King Gabriel & Kathleen King:
“If Christian churches are still around in the 22nd century, what changes did they make–either adding elements or taking them away–that made the church more relevant and attractive to the general population?
What did they do to reinvigorate the congregations and increase their numbers?
The short version is, What can churches do to get more people in the door?
Now, if you answer: ‘I don’t know’, good. I mean how could you possibly know? But what if you did know? What would you say if you did know?
You don’t have to be an expert in religion or churches to take part here. All you need is access to your God given faculty of imagination–and we all have one.
There are no wrong answers, I’m going to say that again. There are no wrong answers; so you just make it up according to what makes you happy, because joy is the surest sign of the presence of God.
I don’t know who said it, but I believe it.”
