On The Border of Hope: Working In Central Europe with Ukrainian Refugees

Description: During the summer of 2022, Paul Huard went to the Polish-Ukrainian border where he worked with hundreds of refugees fleeing war-torn Ukraine. As a worker with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, Huard helped Ukrainians seek a new life in the West and cope with the upheaval in their lives. He will share stories about what he encountered, why he went, and why the Ukrainian people must not be forgotten.
There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the presentation.
Speaker Bio: Paul R. Huard has taught social studies and English courses at Ashland High School for 18 years. Before becoming a teacher there, Huard worked as a journalist covering politics and the military for CBS Radio, Gannett News Service, and Copley News Service.
His freelance work included assignments in Spain and Estonia, and he was a regular columnist writing for the English language service of Nalia Radio and Television in Iraq. He lives in Ashland..
