8/24/22 A Gracious Wind
“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you till it seems as if you couldn’t hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide’ll turn.” —Harriet Beecher Stowe
When Carry Bailey was digging into church history for writing the grant for Christina’s sabbatical, he learned that three times in our church’s history the congregation has dwindled to the point of closure. Each time the remaining members prayed and reached the decision that God is not through with us yet. Each time the church was restored. Resilience is in our DNA. This is an opportunity for growth, not gloom.
Church Council and the Wisdom Council voiced this sense of a turning tide, of the lifting of spirits, of a “Gracious Wind in our midst”*, of a sense of renewal rather than despair. May it be so!
